2 Single Story 2011 3/3

1) What does it mean to have a "single story" about a place or community?
To only believe what you heard, like if you heard someone is poor, that's all you think they are.
Ex: If you see someone from Africa, you might think that they don't know how to use items like the stove, or that they might not know English.

2) Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community? My friend is kind of white, and lives sloppy. Trash every where, dirty items, what you would think a messy person would like. Well, my step-father calls them the rude term "Hill billies"and they are nothing like Hill Billies. They might live messy, I am surprised that they do have a lot of cool items, and they are very kind, and always treat me kindly.

3)Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community? In the East Austin community, people always say that it's full of thief's, guns, gangs, and the police always come there. There is some bad, and the police do come, but not all the time, and it is not the peoples fault that they are like that. They are only like that because they were influenced that way. I go to East Austin College Prep Academy because I want people to know that even East Austin can have good schools, and you can find more information from asking the people who live there.

4)How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community?
Everybody only hears one side of the story. If you make a game about the community or place, they get the other story. People are always judging people because of what they hear, and what they see. That's your story. A game that kids want to play, that game can tell other peoples story for them.
