Healthy Choices.

In Healthy Choices (My game) you, the player, are an explorer looking for the treasure of a lost city. Within the treasure chest, you find all sorts of items that seem to help others live healthy.
The game is created in Adobe Flash 2.0 and is coded using action script. For researching, I used google that lead me to several choices that explained the importance to eating healthy. Choosing the food ingredients for my game was challenging. I wanted to use some simple yet really impacting traits such as a animation or points or even a magnifying glass. These are some of the challenges in choosing my game ingredients. Now, for coding challenges, some problems where the coding, for having to turn my game into a movie clip was very difficult. The coding had to be altered, and the coding itself was difficult. Having to alter the code in order to read the code within the movie clip was even more difficult. Over all, this game was hard and it was worth it.

Post Election 2012

Was your prediction correct?
My prediction was correct. Obama won, like my mother and I predicted and I know I was right because my mother woke me up to "Guess who won!?!?!?!"

What do you think about the results?
I think that the results were surprising  First, my mom was upset because Romney was winning and then she was happy, so I guess it was a close call and I think that my family will be talking this at my family birthday party.

 What was hard?
Hiding the objects or healthy food recipes or enemies.
What do you still need to add to your game?
I need to add more objects, enemies and recipes.

Do you know anyone that lives in the North East?
I do not know anyone in the North East.

How about in New York City?
I do not know their names but I do have some relatives in New York.

1) Batteries 2) Bags with non-perishable foods 3)Water jugs 4) Flashlights 5) Map for directions for safe meeting area 6) Contact info 7) Back-up phones 8) Lanterns 9) Books for entertainment 10) back up cloths

Plan Game Scene

Write about your vision for this game. What excites you about it?
My vision for this game is that it will be a hidden object game with three levels and the player must do 3 things in every level in order to advance. First, the player must find all the un-healthy foods by clicking on them. Then, they must find all the healthy foods. Then finally, the player will be taken to a scene in which they must match the nutrition facts with the food that matches it's description. This excites me because I think this game will be my best work yet, and I am going to make and finish it with the help of my friends.

Choose Learning topic 1-5

My learning topic is Obesity in the U.S and how we can trace this to the un-healthy foods that we eat.
I chose this topic because before 2012, obesity was only common in adults. But know, obesity is found in children and adults early in age. I also chose this topic because I want to show parents, adults and children that eating healthy is easy and does not have to be so expensive or crazy.

1)My Big subject area is: Obesity in the U.S that is caused by fast food

2)One Really Important Thing I Learned: Eating healthy is expensive, and this is one of the reasons that people eat fast food because it's quick and is cheap.

3)People should learn: That eating healthy can be cheap and easy.

4)My Hidden Object Game Will Teach People: That eating bad food is not the answer if you can't afford healthy foods and that there are healthy alternatives from eating bad that can be easy and will be easy on your wallet.

5)The Title of My Game Is: Healthy Quest I

Malala Yousafzai

Who is Malala?
Malala is a girl who spoke up for her believes that school should not be just for men, but for women as well, and not just schools. The Taliban has banned women from schools and shopping, and this young girl had the guts to speak out for women, even though she could have died by doing this,

Where does Malala live?
Malala lives in northwestern Pakistan, specifically in Swat Valley.

What are the problems that Malala and her people face everyday?
January 14th, 2008, school for women has cancelled. This is one of the problems for Malala, because she liked school. She also lives in fear, for her father is constantly being followed by the Taliban. For his daughters protection, he leaves some nights to protect his daughter. Malala, for what she did (Speak out), she could be killed at any time any day by the Taliban.

This girl is our age, and she lives in horrible conditions and she did what we hope to do. We have safe homes and have all the resources, so lets use them! People like Malala probably wish that they could have all the resources right in front of them. Let us be grateful that we have these computers or these books.

Why were Malala and her father so overcome with sadness and happiness when they returned to their home in Swat Valley?
They were probably overcome with sadness and happiness because well first, Malala's father is worried for his daughters condition, being shot and all. Now, he is probably happy because of his daughters work.  Also, when they get home, there would be no home, because they probably got mad at her so they destroyed her home.

What items was Malala most excited about finding when she returned to her home?

Playing to learn

This game is called Call of Atlantis. This game makes you use your head in a major way. First, It's like bejewled, with a time limit, matching things in a row of 3 or more. The difference is that there is an unlimited supply of things because your real goal is to get these two or more special pieces to the bottom of the board. If you do this, you win the level and advance to the next. The game changes its board and pieces. You can also use items in this game like bombs that can get rid of some pieces. Here's the link here

Presidential Debate

The debate from what I here was good. I could only see about 5 minutes because I got home late, but it sounded like a pretty heated battle. The issue that I herd was that I herd was health care. What I didn't understand was what they were talking about. Some Obama care thing and how president Obama said that he also wanted to win for this, because he was also fond of the name "Obama Care". I thought that president Obama did a better job than Mitt Romney because Mitt Romney left himself open, and kept trying to get back at Obama, and did not do much.

The Danger of a Single Story

Having a single story means that you only believe what you want to believe. This means that you won't listen to others and that you will only agree to people who have the same opinion as you do. Having a single story is dangerous. It could be bad for you. You would be preventing yourself from exploring other things.
This is bad for your head. Be open to others opinion. Just because someone has different doesn't mean anything. Now it's not always our fault. The media shows us things that causes us to think bad things about other people. Others are like us. We may look different and show things differently, but we are almost the same.

There is only one single story I can remember, well...2.  1) My family thinks that white people are snobs, rich, spoiled people who get whatever they want. The other I won't explain due to the description my family uses.

Now it's not always our fault. The media shows us things that causes us to think bad things about other people. Others are like us. We may look different and show things differently, but we are almost the same.

A new year

Finally, 9th grade. I plan to do a lot this year. I plan to first, learn more Cello (Long story)
and I plan to become very good at playing Cello because this year, we are joining the Austin Youth Orchestra, which is very exciting because it was my dream ever since I was little to play an instrument in a big fancy orchestra. Plus, doing this would look good on a college application! My other goals are to get better grades and have new friends, both of which are going very well.

Local Kids Make Games

This article right here is super awesome! This is a report about Globaloria and people who were recognized
such as Michael, the 8th grader and his game, Forest Rats.
I feel so awesome about this article. I mean, people hardly know about our school, and now people are writing articles about us! But one thing did made me a little upset, that they did not show my game, Help Haiti. Yeah, it could use a little work, but the fact that I worked hard to at least be recognized, just made me upset, but that's ok. Not everyone gets what they want.
However, if my game was recognized, I would love that attention! This is a post that probably a lot of people have seen and I would love for people to know about all the hard work we students have put into our games to teach people about the problems in out world Other than that, this article was awesome!

Forks over Knives

What do you think this documentary will be about?
I think that this documentary will be about teaching kids to eat healthy instead of fatty.

What do you think the title implies or indicates about the film?
I think this title implies that people should eat with a fork (healthy foods)
instead of a Knives (Fatty foods).

Notes:

  •  460 thousand people die from heart illness.
  • 1/4 four year old's are obese

  • Bad Cholesterol is mostly found in egg and animals.
  • We learned that animal protein was really good at turning off cancer.
  • As fast food got more popular and bigger, so did cancer.
  • As people continued to eat fast food and fatty unhealthy foods, the next generation got fatter and unhealthier.
  • When a person gets Diabetes, they take pills everyday for the rest of their lives, and they get horrible side effects!
  • 20% Protein causes cancer, change that to 5% and cancer decreases.
  • Cancer can be increased by what we put into our bodies.
  • Only a small percentage of death by cancer was due to genes, however, it changes if we eat animal protein and increases!
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup is a ingredient  that sweetens food, even though it's very unhealthy.
  • Food effects our bodies by causing our bodies to think that we need more food, even though we don't!
  • People who eat whole food plant diet are way healthier!
  • In China, people were studying and researching cancer, and very little places in the area around China.
  • Anthony Yen who was born and raised in China came to the U.S and discovered that people in the U.S eat WAY too much meat than in China, and had severe chest pains ans 5 Bi-pass surgery.
