Strange Days on Planet Earth part 4
Over 70% of the earth is water. The Pacific covers half of it. The water cares for many ocean animals, including plankton. Many animals eat plankton, and some animals eat animals that eat plankton. Plankton holds a BIG part of the food chain. Krill are plankton too. Scientist study krill because there plankton, and what happens to them, effects the whole ocean! People say that global warming came into effect in the late 1900's. Every 20 years, the ocean's temp. flip flops. That helps the nutrients from the bottom comes up, but because of global warming, the temp of warmer water is increasing, and throwing the flip flop out of whack! Did you know that a crabs heart stops beating only because the temp. of the test water increased by 2 degrees. That might not seem allot to us, but its HUGE to the sea animals! Everything is linked. What I do effects everyone. In the Caribbean, Asama had a HUGE increase. In Niagara, there lake decreased to 20% of what it use to be. The people of Niagara moved closer to the water. They should not have to move for water. Now, lets talk about dust. Remember when I said the Asama was increasing, well, they found out why. There is s illnesses that causes Asama. It blows with dust, and kids breath in dust. That's how they get Asama. We make the change to our Earth. If we do a little bit, that will equal a huge amount for later. It will help us in the future.

Strange Days on Planet Earth part 5
Valleys filled with water because of a flood. Animals are marooned, which means stuck in one place because you can't go on. People are tying to get animals that are marooned to safety, they are lucky. On small island, many small plants are trying to survive, and some are defending themselves using thorns or chemicals. Animals are going crazy! Howler Monkeys were once social and playful, but population has increased and they fight for food, they don't groom, and kid monkeys don't play. Can animals survive in our landscape? Who knows? Some animals are in our everyday lives, mostly in North America. Something has thrown of Yellowstone. Someone found something wrong with a river, yet he did not know why. Sometime in history, the last wolf in Yellowstone was killed. Some people think that the death of the Wolfs is connected by the lost of trees in Yellowstone. The wolfs kill and eat elk, so they kind of protect the vegetation. When the wolfs died out, the vegetation was growing shorter. Now that the wolfs are slowly growing back, the vegetation is also slowly growing back, but some people are a little upset. Wolfs eat Lambs, and ranchers have to be careful or there lamb will be wolf chow. Sea plants are getting hurt too. The coral needs animals to eat the algae growing on it, and the predators eat the algae eating fish. The little fish go away, the big fish go away, the coral dies because the algae suffocates the coral, and the coral is dead. In the past, Jamaica lost 40% of its big fish. In one place, there problem was better then Jamaica, but still the same. They could not catch big fish. They started putting up reserves. The fish are coming back! There reserve is increasing in population and bringing back BIG predator fish.

Water. We all need it, and we all use it, but how we treat it, water would not even look at us if it had eyes. Did you know that 20 species of frogs are extinct. That is proving we are not taking care of the Earth and its children. More than a trillion pounds of corn are grown and harvested each year. More food means more people can eat, but the week killers we use may be the cause of the frogs going extinct. One of the week killers causes male frogs to become hermaphrodites. That means that it is a frog with male and female parts. Beluga Whales are in trouble too. Some whales have so many chemicals that they are considered toxic waste. Not only is that a rude name, but that is dangerous! They are in the water we drink, and if these chemicals are in the water we drink, then we might be putting the chemicals in OUR bodies!
Strange Days on Planet Earth part 7
Did you know that the chemicals in our food and effecting the Beluga Whales is in our tap water? Men is Missouri are being effected by this. Not only that, but other everyday items may have some of these chemicals we take in without knowing. There are some natural allies that can take out some of these chemicals and keep us safe. But were not always safe. Mercury is dangerous. At first, its not that bad, but they turn into a more effective Mercury, which is very bad for us and the animals of the water. But one scientist was able to make an Mercury eating bacteria, that took over 20 years to make. Mercury is not the only thing effecting water animals. Cow manure and Nitrogen can cause some sea animals to have mass outbreaks. One Starfish that has not been seen for over 40 years has had a MASS OUTBREAK. Seeing one is awsome, but seeing one hundred is not a pretty sight. The Starfish may look nice because it hardly moves, but if you record it and fast forword it, you can see the destruction it causes. We can protect our safty and the safty of the planet. We can use our tecnology to see how we are effecting the Earth. We need to protect ourselfes and protect our planet!
