Yesterday I saw a video about the coral reef. It was very VERY sad. Coral reefs have gone strong for six million years! Thats like, 60 times our life time! Did you know that most coral is stone, and the rest are plants. The coral reef can help us get better. The calcium in the coral can help mend our bones, and we get this wonderful coral from little tiny animals, but reacently, there work is going to waste. The algea on the coral is leaving the coral because of ocean warming. If the algea leaves, the coral starves and bleaches white! That means that the coral can't help the little animals that need coral. Many animals have to leave there homes because of the bleached coral. We need coral too. The fish need the coral as a home and we eat fish. If the fish go, what are we going to eat?
They probly went to the Great Barrier Reef, the largest coral reef. That reef has not been bleached, not yet. We need coral. It is benifitial. We benifit from it. We need it. Fish need it. The beutiful coral could be gon it 30 YEARS! That is not a long time! We need to save it NOW! We could but biodegratable items in it. The algea would grow on it and there we go! A mini coral reef! Putting items that won't kill the animals in the ocean might help us bring some of the coral reef back. The ship wrecks (the Titanic) have algea because it has been under water for a while now. We can help heal the coral reef by:
- Turning off lights not in use
- Bike to places (wal-mart)
- If you play video games, turn off the consle of charger when not in use
These are three of the many things we could do to save the enviorment, ourselfs, and others!
This is a really wonderful description of what you saw and took from the documentary. You have also included some helpful hints that we can all try to do our part in saving the coral reef of this planet.
